Vivek: Pain and misery only exist in the world of duality. In the Self, there is only bliss, Sat-Chit-Anand.

Guru Ji: But what about the pain and sorrow that we see around us?

Vivek: What we see depends upon where we see it from. If we see from the Self, we see only bliss, if we see from the ego-self, we see the opposites like joy-sorrow etc.

Guru Ji: How does it make a difference from where we see? Joy and sorrow are still there. If a pigeon closes his eyes on seeing a cat, the cat doesn’t disappear. It is just that he is not seeing it. So even if I close my eyes and shift my perspective to the Self, pain and misery will not disappear. They will still exist in the world. It is just that I am not seeing them.
